Cenote Del Crocodile 🐊 Dorado the union Just 90 minutes from Bacalar
History: Every year-end, a golden 🐊 crocodile swims to the surface of the cenote, swims for a while and then submerges to continue protecting the treasures of hundreds of years or at least that’s what they say.
Around the Cenote del Cocodrilo Dorado, located in the community of La Unión, 120 kilometers from Chetumal.
The place is an attraction for lovers of nature, ecotourism and extreme sports; During the journey, the diversity of birds, reptiles and insects anticipate an unimaginable experience.
Upon arrival, from the mountain you can see the imposing body of water, the jungle and some communities in Belize. Hiking and rappelling are mandatory activities due to the almost 70 meter high slope that surrounds the cenote.
Swimming in its turquoise waters or kayaking delight visitors, who in the afternoon can observe the gold-colored crocodiles swimming or simply sunbathing on the shore.
The twilight transports you to another dimension with a starry sky and the growls of felines and the howls of monkeys.
This place, which captivates thousands of tourists, has even attracted large television stations in Mexico that have made capsules and reports.
How to get ? 🤔
🚘 By car: To get to the union you must leave Chetumal taking highway 186 Chetumal-Villahermosa. When you reach the intersection bridge, take the “Escárcega/Campeche” exit and continue on Highway 186 for approximately 25 km until you reach the community of Ucum. From Ucum, take the detour to the left on the Ucum-La Unión highway. After following that route for approximately 88 km you should be arriving at the border community of La Unión.
🚖🚌By public transportation: In front of the ADO bus terminal, located behind the Mayan culture museum in Chetumal, ask for the vans heading to La Unión. The cost is approx. $60.00 MXN per person and there are five departures throughout the day, the first at 5 am and the last at 6:30 pm.
